How Humans and Robots are Presented in Blade Runner Blade Runner is a science fiction film set in Los Angeles in the year 2019. Nuclear war had just ended which caused large-scale devastation such as dramatic climate change, genetic change and all animals on earth becoming extinct apart from artificial ones. The Tyrell Corporation developed the artificial animals, which also happen to be the creators of Androids (Artificial beings) which the film is based on. The film Blade Runner revolves around the Nexus 6 series of Androids these androids were built to do the hard, tiresome jobs on off-world colonies. Using androids was a big advantage for the humans of this time because they never getâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦I hope to find out the answers to these questions by analysing different aspects of the film such as camera angle, tone and music. The film is based upon Philip. K. Dicks Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? The film also poses a question: Is Deckard a replicant? And as with all the things in the future I must discover this myself. I believe Ridley Scott made this film is because he wanted to make his own version of the book that he enjoyed so much. The scenes I will be studying are: Eye on the City, Leons emotional response, Chews Visitors, The prodigal son brings death and The Roof. All these scenes I have studied in great detail and with my knowledge of them I should be able to answer the task at hand. The start of the film, Eye on the City, opens with a text roll explaining the background of the film and what has happened so far. After the roll the film cuts to a wide screen pan of LA, 2019. This view shows Earth in psychological and physical decay. It is totally industrialised and huge fires erupt out of dark factories. In this shot fire belches out of oil refinery towers and factory smokestacks in the industrial overgrowth. There are thousands of city lights flickering in the misty night air.
